Blue-Gold Senior Game

Lauren was the only senior from her team to be invited to play in the blue-gold senior game tonight.  The teams consisted of girls from all over Delaware and she was put on the blue team.  She was given the entire uniform, shorts, shirt and even socks, but she had no choice in what number she was.  She was given #13 and even though the #15 girl didn't show up Lauren couldn't switch because the programs were already made up.  Oh well, lucky 13 it is!  They posed for a group picture before the game started.
A closer up look at her.  I felt bad for the girls because they were looking into the sun.
Doing their before game huddle.  I have no idea why they were all looking but it worked for my picture!
For the first time in 4 years Lauren did not start.  She looks thrilled to be sitting on the bench doesn't she?
She did get subbed into the game and played really well.  She's playing with all the best players of Delaware so it was a little different from her high school games.  These girls actually knew what they were doing.
She was given a break as they rotated players.  At least she seems to be enjoying herself a little more now.
Smiling and enjoying the game, that's how the senior game should be.
That didn't keep her from playing hard though.
She had a beautiful run down the sideline to win the ball and an amazing pass to one of her teammates who then scored.  That was by far the best play I saw all night and it came from my little soccer star!  :)

Her coach came to watch as did one of her teammates (the one on the right) plus a former teammate (the one on the left.) The former teammate was a senior when Lauren was a freshman.  I remember thinking that my poor little freshman daughter on the big bad varsity would get eaten alive but Colleen was sooo nice to her.  It was nice to have people other than her parents to cheer her on during the game.

That now is officially the last high school game that Lauren will ever play.  It's bittersweet.  I don't have to worry about her hitting heads with anyone or any other soccer injuries but I'm going to really miss seeing her play.  She's been playing since kindergarten!  Hopefully she plays in college if all goes as it should.

Soccer Banquet

The last soccer banquet for Lauren.  Don't you just love the cake that I made for it?
No, I can't take credit, I didn't make it.  Whomever did though did a good job.  Here's "Lauren" on the cake.
The whole family came to this year's banquet, usually it's just me.
The banquet is for the whole team but holds special meaning to the seniors.
Lauren holding "Lauren."
The varsity players usually sit at one table and the JV sit at another.
This is her 4th year for getting her varsity letter.  Her coach presents her awards to her.
The last job Lauren has as a captain is to present gag gifts to everyone else on varsity.  A few days before the banquet her and the other captain went shopping together at the dollar store.  At the banquet they take turns handing them out.
The last picture of the night, the entire varsity team of 2013 one last time.
It was kind of sad to leave when the banquet was over.  I can't believe that I won't be watching my girl play anymore for Newark.

T-ball games

T-ball can be fun to watch and t-ball can also be really boring.  It's fun if it's your kid that's up to bat.  It's boring watching the other 10-11 players bat.  So to counteract my boredom I took lots and lots of pictures during his games.  I put my camera on sports mode to try to capture the ball in the picture like this.

Of course who could resist taking a picture of this!
I switched my camera to shoot in black and white and took these.

Then tried taking pictures in sepia.
He did so well that he got the game ball to take home!  Way to go Zach!
All of that was last weeks game.  Here's a few from this week.

Megan and Kristin came to watch the game.  I love how they're watching.

They were cracking themselves up over finding different fruits and vegetables with faces.
Their sense of humor is a little strange.

More Soccer Games

I was so thankful that Lauren didn't get any injuries before prom.  There's nothing like being on crutches or in a boot for prom time!  Now I have to hope she can go injury free until graduation.  It's sad when I equate soccer to injuries!

She's had quite a few soccer games since I last posted about soccer.  Here's a few pics from those games.

Listening to the coach before a game.
Running to the center after being announced.

Really Lauren?  A header?
Doing the hand slapping thing with the players that were already announced.

This was part of the decorations for Senior Night.  The seniors were recognized and given gifts.

It looks like Lauren's saying, "Did you know you had a ball on your head?"
Being seen by their trainer and getting her ankle re taped at the Smyrna game.
After she rolled her ankle when she was a sophomore she's always gotten her ankles taped for the games.  I think she said it came loose so that's why she got it redone.

Cookout Time

Zach had a game this afternoon and then we went to Mamaw and Papaw's house for some hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill.

It was getting cold so Kristin borrowed a sweatshirt from Mamaw.
What strange kids I have!
Megan thinks she's the next karate kid.
Maybe she thought she would have better luck with Zachary.
Yep, the later it gets the stranger my kids get.
