The 3 cars driving down all left at separate times and stopped at separate stops and we all still made it to the house around the same time. Steve and Katie were first, we were a close second (but I had to stop and get the key) and my parents with Megan and Kristin were about 20 minutes later. After unpacking the cars the kids wanted to check out the beach. Here's Ari, Lauren and Megan posing:
Ari came with us to the beach because halfway through the week her and Lauren's soccer team had to play in regionals. Her mom was very generous and offered to pick Lauren up halfway so Lauren wouldn't miss it, this was before we offered to take her daughter Ari. Since her mom was going out of the way to help us out (we had this vacation scheduled before we knew they made regionals) we extended the offer to take Ari with us. So Lauren and Ari stayed from Sunday to Wednesday at 3:00 when Paul took them to meet Ari's mom.

We spent most every morning on the beach. The only day we didn't go out was on Wednesday because it was overcast and off and on rainy. So that day a group of us went shopping instead! Here's some pictures from the beach:

Whenever we came back from the beach we had to rinse off the sand. Here's Zach showing us how. 
Most everyone would jump in the pool for a little bit afterwards like Megan did. 
The hot tub was also a favorite. It got turned way down so the kids could get in it too. (It was made hotter when the kids weren't around!) Here's Zach, Kristin, Ryan, Megan and Kelly.

We also went "ghost crabbing." Last year we never did this but we also didn't have an oceanfront house either. Let me explain, "ghost crabbing" is when you go out on the beach at night with a flashlight and either watch or catch the crabs as they scuttle away. The first night we went out was Tuesday night and it was me, Kelly, Lauren, Ari, Kristin and Megan. Six people with 3 flashlights. Wow! It was amazing how many crabs live on the beach. That first night they were everywhere, crabs of all sizes, here's a picture of one of the little critters:
We went out 2 more times after that. The second time was after it had rained and it was much harder to see them, plus they couldn't bury themselves in the sand since it was too hard. The third time we got Paul, Steve and my dad to go too but the mosquitos were terrible that night so no one stayed out long. I guess that drizzly day we had brought the mosquitos out.
One afternoon Paul and I, Zach, Kristin, Kelly and my mom went to visit Jennette's pier. Kelly got Zach a souvenir penny:
We watched as someone caught a fish that croaks. He was very nice and showed it to Zach before throwing it back.
The jackpot though was when we got to the end of the pier. We arrived just as someone caught a shark. It was a little shark, 30 some inches long, but I still wouldn't want to meet it in the water.
We stopped at a souvenir store and then got some ice cream before heading back. I love Zach's face!
Kristin's face is priceless too!
We really didn't go out much. Katie, Steve and the boys went to the aquarium one day and also visited the pier. My parents, Kristin and Kelly visited the Wright Brothers Memorial. All of us went out to dinner one evening. But mostly we stayed at the beach. Here's what Kristin did most of the vacation... read a book (or two).

We were in search of seafood we could buy and bring home and cook. While we were waiting for our shrimp to get steamed we explored the dock and gazebo that were soundside. Megan and Zach are looking oh so cute.
Zach got to enjoy a show every evening with his cousins. He loved being a part of their bedtime routine since he has absolutely no routine of his own!
I didn't realize how much he was hogging the couch until I saw the picture. Sorry Alex and Ryan!
